I was just listening to your talk on the radio about enduring suffering. It seemed like it was directed to wives enduring husbands that were not everything they could be for her. It was this kind of teaching that made me think I had to stay with my husband while he beat me, drug me out of church, and would abuse my children. I stayed in that for years, because I was being taught at church this some how honored God in my life. My friend stayed and endured all kinds of abuse while her children was being molested by her husband, because the church was teaching her she must stay with her husband to honor God in her life. Those children are adults now and scared for life. One hates and blames God for what she went through. I know you mean well, but I want to encourage you to always put a BUT in there when you are talking about suffering to honor Christ. The Lord had to show me in the scriptures where there is a time you must leave. Much damage was done to me and my family, because of this teaching. Keep up the good work for the Lord, but please fine tune what you are saying. With love in Christ…..

Hi, Trena! Thank you for joining our online community. This particular broadcast, and the book, “A Loving Life,” are not directed particularly at women. They are for both men and women. And, it’s not just about suffering in marriage, the topic is about any kind of suffering, and how the journey through it can help us grow closer to the Lord, and know Him better. Also, we often add disclaimers to articles and broadcasters that enduring things in marriage should never, ever include abuse.
